HARRY PERSAUD
Harry Persaud considers himself a freethinker. He holds no specific dogma or creed but adheres to the scientific equation. He espouses creative thinking, and as a seeker, he sees truth as an individual pursuit. Harry was born and grew up on the West Coast of Demerara, Guyana, where he received his formal education. He has served as an elementary school teacher on the West Coast and in the Interior District of Demerara. Harry worked on his father’s farm, and as a Field Clerk in Sea-Defence construction on the East Coast of Demerara before migrating to Canada in 1972. Harry Persaud pursued Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Canada and the United States of America and was elected to Who is Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Harry has published many articles on cultural transformation and migration, and two books on poetry and short stories. Harry is an ardent Martial Arts student and teacher, and holds Black Belts in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do and Kyusho Jitsu, the art of pressure point self-defense. He has his martial arts Dojo in Markham, Ont. Harry Persaud was one of the recipients of the Vedic Cultural Center Annual award in 2022 for Outstanding Contribution and Selfless Service in the City of Markham, Ont.
